CVS rolls out AI-powered heat alerts for Aetna Medicare patients

Dr. Dan Knecht

CVS Health is taking preventative health care a step further with a new initiative informing Medicare patients up to a week ahead of time when temperatures are expected to rise to the point that their health is deemed to be at risk.

In a step the company said should be of particular interest to Kern County residents this summer, Aetna Medicare Advantage subscribers will get advance notice whenever a heat wave is forecast so they can take precautionary measures such as visiting a cooling center — and maybe stop taking a prescribed diuretic that could raise their risk of dehydration.
